Shirley Curley, 87, of Washington, passed away at 6:04pm Friday, August 16, 2024 at Reflections Memory Care in Washington.

Shirley was born June 23, 1937 in Peoria to the late Clarence and Isabel Kennel Slonneger, and she married Daniel Curley on September 1, 1955.

Surviving is her husband, Dan; their sons, Dennis (Kathy) Curley of Low Point and Tim (Kay) Curley of Congerville; grandchildren, Erin, Ross, Jay, and Jenna; and six great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death her siblings, Charlie Slonneger and Sharon Derry.

Family was the most important thing to Shirley, and she loved spending time with them, and especially enjoyed hosting family Christmases. She retired from Caterpillar as a group leader after 37 years of service in the transmission department. In retirement, she and Dan traveled extensively in their motorhome. She also had a special place in her heart for cats and cared for many of them over the years.

She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington, where her funeral Mass will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, August 22, 2024. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ARK Animal Shelter in Lacon or to TAPS in Pekin.
