Obituary

Obituary Shirley J. Briggs, 79, of Washington, passed away at 6:07 pm Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016 at Reflections Memory Care in Washington. She was born Nov. 15, 1936 in Creve Coeur, IL to Ralph and Mabel Meginity DeBolt. She married Allen F. Briggs on June 30, 1956 in Deer Creek, IL. He preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Evelyn Hofmann, Helen Sauder; and 2 brothers, Harold and Gerald DeBolt. She is survived by 3 children, Sheryl (and Randy) Boston of Burnside, Susan (and Steve) Sepich of Washington, Jeff (and Keli) Briggs of Washington; 7 grandchildren, James Sepich, Christopher Boston, Mary-Kate Henrekin, Raylene Gunning, Rachelle Boston, Allen Sepich, and Spenser Wagner; 6 great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Ayden, Ava, Harper, Jack, Rylan; and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington and the M & M Club there. She was a member of the Jr. Women's Club and past President and member of the Red Hatters. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Reflections Memory Care and Transitions Hospice for all of their loving care and also Pastor Dan Doty for his monthly pastoral visits. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Crossroads United Methodist Church or Transitions Hospice. A funeral service for Shirley will be at 1:30 pm Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 at Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington with Pastor Dan Doty officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 pm, one hour before services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
