Sherry
Throckmorton
Mar 20, 1955 — Aug 13, 2023
Sherry Lynn Throckmorton, 68, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Bel Aire Senior Living in American Fork, UT. She was born on March 20., 1955 in Peoria, IL to her dear parents, Dana and Erma Wren Throckmorton.
Survivors include her brother, Mark (Karen) Throckmorton of Bedford, MA and their children, Joshua (Tessa) Throckmorton and Hayli Throckmorton, and her sister, Nancy Throckmorton of Herriman, UT.
She was preceded in death by her parents, nephew, Jacob Throckmorton, and her four-legged friend, Shadow.
Sherry attended Franklin Grade School in Pekin, IL, but never got to attend high school due to the limited special education classes available at the time. She moved to Warren Achievement Center in Monmouth, IL in 1976 where she learned basic life skills so she could live alone. It wasn't always easy to be away from her family, but she learned a lot, which is why she thrived when she moved back to Peoria.
She began working at OSF St. Francis Medical Center through CWTC in 1979. She worked in the dietary department, joyfully delivering patients food trays to them for well over 20 years. She loved her work, especially when working in the emergency room or on the labor and delivery floor. When she would go on her break at work, she enjoyed sitting outside and watching Life Flight take off.
Sherry loved spending time with her family, Nancy's dog, Shadow, and all of her friends. She enjoyed taking the city bus to go to her favorite store, Walmart, or other places around Peoria. She enjoyed playing games, going to the movies, and she loved watching all kinds of sports. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and typically had at least 3 different NFL teams she followed (Packers, Vikings, and Broncos).
After moving to Utah, she watched BYU football and enjoyed going on drives in American Fork and the Provo Canyons. She especially enjoyed her recent trip to visit Arches National Park and Moab, UT. The family would like to issue a special thanks to Bel Aire Senior Living for all their love and care of Sherry.
Memorials may be made to CWTC (Community Workshop Training Center) or to Bel Aire Senior Living in American Fork, UT.
