Obituary Dr. Shelly A. McGath, 52, of Washington, passed away and was bestowed a crown of beauty at 4:15 pm Monday, September 11, 2017 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Surviving are her children, Dakota and Jessica Jones, both of Washington; her life partner, Jimmie Carnell of Peoria; her parents, Ann McGath of Washington and James McGath of East Peoria; her siblings, Maurianne Nace of Bartonville, Cindy (Mike) Bruketa of Dunlap, Rhonda McKelvey of East Peoria, and Danny Ray McGath of Chatham; her grandmother, Margaret Kirby of Washington; 14 nieces and nephews; and her cat, Willow. Shelly graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic. She had a selfless and compassionate spirit, serving others at her practice, Family Care Chiropractic in Washington for the last 25 years. Her most important role was being a loving and prayerful mother to her two children. Shelly was an amazing cook and a very elaborate baker and loved to share those talents with others. She loved to garden, which was a passion she shared with her mom. Shelly had a deep love for and faith in Jesus and was a member of Elevate Church in Morton. A celebration of Shelly's life and faith will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 15, 2017 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, led by Pastor Brian Sanders. The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 pm Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the funeral home, and from 10-11:00 am prior to the service Friday. Inurnment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dr. Shelly McGath Benefit Fund c/o Heartland Bank.
