Shay Michelle Wright, 56, of East Peoria passed away at OSF Medical Center on Friday, April 24, 2026, with her loving family at her side.

Shay was born on September 13, 1969, in Peoria, to Tom and Kathryn Marliere. She married Chuck Wright on June 17, 1989, in Peoria. Together, they had two children, Josh and Jacob, and later welcomed Bryant and Breanne into their family, raising them

as their own after the loss of their mother to breast cancer.

Shay dedicated many years to District 150, serving as a cafeteria manager at Sterling Middle School and Charter Oak Elementary, where she took pride in caring for every student who came through her lunch line.

Shay loved staying active and spending time outdoors with her family — whether that was camping, kayaking, or cheering on her two sons at the racetrack. She cherished time with her husband, children, friends, and her five energetic grandchildren, who kept

her busy and brought her endless joy.

Shay is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Chuck Wright of East Peoria; her children, Joshua (Kayleigh) Wright of Pevely, MO, Jacob Wright of East Peoria, Bryant Gordon (Keith Wilfinger) of Morton, and Breanne Gordon of East Peoria; her grandchildren, Haven and Kailo Wright, Michal and Aurora Wilfinger, and Xavier Glass; her mother, Kathryn Marliere; her siblings, Terry and Nathan Marliere, both of Peoria; as well as several nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

Shay was preceded in death by her father Tom Marliere.

To honor Shay's wishes, cremation rites were accorded by Deiters Funeral Home in Washington.  Please join Shay's family to celebrate her life on Sunday, June 7, at the Embassy Suites in East Peoria from 2 pm- 6 pm where there will be food and fellowship.  Inurnment will be held at Swan Lake Cemetery in Peoria at a later date.

Those who wish may leave a memorial in Shay's name at the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or to Mom's Who Care-East Peoria Community High School.
