Obituary

Obituary Scott Randall Woods, 61, of Washington, passed away on Jan. 25, 2017, at 2:53 pm at OSF Hospital in Peoria, with his family by his side. Scott was born to Claude "Woody" and Joann (Bayer) Woods in Peoria on Feb. 14, 1955. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Deb Lavaux; and his nephews, Brandon and Cameron Lavaux. He is survived by his three sons, Scott (Kate) Woods II, Michael (Jaclyn) Woods, and Sean Woods, all of Washington; his siblings Terry (Gordy) Woods Short and Tim (Karen) Woods of Decatur; and by his grandchildren, Skyeler Woods, Dan Scott-Selburg, Koen Woods, Graeme Woods and Lilly Woods. The mothers of his sons are also living. Scott retired from Caterpillar. Scott also worked for many years as a pipefitter with the Plumber's Union Local 63. He was an avid gardener from which he made what some say were the world's best pickles and peppers. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Chicago Bears and any other sport he could find. Scott loved bowling and was a league bowler for many years. He also coached Little League for his sons when they were young. Scott loved crosswords, puzzles, playing cards and creating beautiful patterned art for his friends and family. Scott also golfed in the family ran Caddy Shack golf outing. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Special Olympics, Easter Seals or T.A.P.S. in S. Pekin. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 pm Monday, Jan. 30, 2017 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington with Pastor Evan Williams officiating. Family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
