Sarah Joann LaBerdia, 89, of Peoria, passed away at 2:50 am Friday, July 23, 2021 at River Crossing of East Peoria. She was born June 11, 1932 in Plymouth, NC to the late Hilton and Sarah Lord Gordon. She married Gordon L. LaBerdia on March 17, 1962 in Peoria Heights. He preceded her in death on September 15, 2012. Surviving is her son, Rick Holmes; two step-children, William (Rose) LaBerdia, Judy (John) Lykins; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Marge Coogan; and several nieces and nephews. Sarah was also blessed with her special friends Linda and Ora. Sarah formerly worked as a secretary with a local insurance company and volunteered at Proctor Hospital. Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11am Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be one hour before services on Wednesday, from 10 to 11am at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
