Sandy Buckingham, 70, of Peoria, passed away at 4:48pm Friday, February 24, 2023 at OSF Transitional Care Hospital in Peoria.

She was born March 24, 1952 in Brown City, MI to the late Frank and Jean Kriener. She married William Buckingham on May 27, 1995 in Peoria.

Surviving is her husband, Bill; children, Matt (Kelleen) Nitsch, Angela Krumholz, and Lucinda Chapai; grandchildren, Taylor Hibbartt, Jason Foerster, Lisa Krumholz, Jennifer Krumholz, Kennan Chapai, and Kiley Chapai; great-grandchildren, Serenity Foerster, Kaysen Hubbartt, Kenneth Chapai, and Finley Chapai; her siblings, Frank, Lou (Russ), Glory (Fred), Linda, Pete (Cindy), and Chris; brother-in-law Gene (Dee) Buckingham; and many nieces and nephews.

Sandy enjoyed a long career in the area as an optician, until retiring from Illinois Eye Center in 2013.She loved to work in her garden and spend time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She and Bill took many trips home and abroad, making wonderful memories.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Nitsch Theatre Arts.
