Ruth F. Woodyard Young, 94, of Washington, passed away at 7:15pm Monday, February 14, 2022 at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.

She was born May 30, 1927 in Charleston, IL to Lincoln and Iva Hanna Woodyard.  She married Orville E. Young in Mattoon, IL on June 15, 1947.  He preceded her in death on October 29, 2018.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, and two sisters.

Surviving are two daughters - Jemma Barry of Washington, Julie (Jim Holaday) Young of Pittsburgh, PA; two grandchildren - Angela (Jim) Horvatic, and Lara Swiersz; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Ruth worked as a secretary at District 50 in Washington for many years, retiring in 1988.  She enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with her friends and spending time with her family.  She will be dearly missed.

Cremation has been accorded.  There will be no services.  Inurnment will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
