Ruth Presley, 97, of Snyder Village in Metamora, passed away at 3:05pm Thursday, February 9, 2023 at UnityPoint Health- Methodist in Peoria.

She was born July 6, 1925 in Lockhart, MN to the late Edward H. and Ida M. Willhardt Attig. She married William "Joe" Presley on January 19, 1952 in Washington.

Ruth was employed at various places including LeTourneau, Caterpillar and retiring from the Peoria Journal Star after 20 years. After her retirement, Ruth was involved Community Bible Study for many years.

Surviving is her husband, Joe; her daughters, Diane (Gary) Ringenberg of Cary, NC and Stacey (Michael) Anderson of Germantown Hills; grandsons, David and Todd; and two great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Denver, Shirley, Iona, and Donna; and a grandson, Grant.

Ruth loved nature and wildlife, especially birds, and instilled that love into her children and grandchildren. She incorporated this fondness in her oil paintings as well, creating treasured works of art. She had a kind spirit, was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and the best cherry pie baker around.

A private graveside service for Ruth will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Snyder Village Resident in Need Fund or the Peoria Audubon Society.
