Obituary Ruth L. Moell, 95, of Peoria, formerly of Peoria Heights, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015, at 9:10A.M. at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Ruth was born October 15, 1919, in Lamont, Iowa, to Joshua A. and Myrtle Varnes Stringer. She married Chester Calvin Moell on May 31, 1941, in Peoria Heights. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2003, in Peoria. Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, one infant grandson, two brothers, and three sisters. She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Ernie Meiner) McClain of Peoria Heights, Marlene (Rick) Klaus of Peoria, and Calvin (Kathy) Moell of Malden; six grandsons; and 8 great-grandchildren. Ruth graduated from Peoria High School in 1937 and continued her education at Brown's Business School in Peoria. She worked as a secretary for McElwee & Rogy and later for Caterpillar during World War II. She then became a homemaker. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee with her husband each night and more recently with her grandchildren. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, needlework, bowling, playing cards, and baking delicious cookies and pies. Her grandchildren brought her the most joy. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunnyland Christian Church. A funeral service for Ruth will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at 11:00A.M. at Sunnyland Christian Church where she was a member. Pastor Evan Williams will officiate. There will be a visitation an hour prior to the service at 10:00AM. Interment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
