Obituary WASHINGTON - Ruth Marie Holford, 69, of Washington passed away at 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at her residence.Ruth was born on June 16, 1945, in Peoria to Carl and Ruth Stahl Bjork. She married Gale Holford on June 18, 1995, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 2003. Ruth is survived by her children, Craig (Mary) Oakman of Washington and Carla (Rob Huskey) Lohman of East Peoria; her mother, Ruth Bjork of Pekin; siblings, Carl (Pat) Bjork of Arizona, Bob (Cindi) Bjork of Texas, Vickie (Kenny) Todd of Henry and William (Tina) Bjork of Texas; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale; father, Carl; and one son, Chris Alan Oakman.Ruth worked for several years as an elderly caregiver for Community Care in Pekin.She loved her loyal dog, Molly. She was very proud of her home. Ruth especially loved spending time with her family.A memorial service for Ruth will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at 6 p.m. at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. A memorial visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Pastor Bill Sloman will officiate. Inurnment will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
