Obituary EAST PEORIAa"Russell J. Moore, 83, of East Peoria died at 11:40 PM on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Born on January 10, 1928 in Watseka, IL to Russell and Johanna Schaumburg Moore, he married Margaret A. Hedges on June 10, 1950 in Peoria IL. She preceded him in death on June 21, 1978. He later married Barbara Jones on July 18, 1981 in Peoria; she survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Mary A. (Kevin) Keil of East Peoria, Elizabeth C. (Jack) Watson of Naperville, IL, Ann L. Moore of Naples, FL and William R. (Vickie) Moore of East Peoria; 8 grandsons, Adam (Jillian) Keil, Alex (Adrienne) Keil, Andrew Keil, Hunter Watson, Spencer Watson, Tyler Watson, Bryan Moore and Scott Moore; and 1 sister, Patricia (Clarence) Rydell of Port St. Lucie, FL. Russell was a US Marine Corps veteran. He graduated from Bradley University with both a Bachelors and Master of Science Degree. He was a member of Bradley's football team and was inducted into the Bradley Athletics Hall of Fame on Jan 26, 1991. Russell began his teaching career at Piper City Community High where he was the first football coach and constructed the first football field for the school. He later taught and coached at East Peoria Community High School and eventually served as Superintendent there for 20 years. He was also a member of the Fondulac Park District Board. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, March 25, 2011 at the St. Paul Episcopal Church in Peoria. The Very Rev. Robert Dedmon will officiate. There will be no visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment of cremated remains will be at St. Paul Episcopal Church. Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
