Ruby Dell Green, 92, of Washington, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Carle Health Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born June 13, 1933 in Winnsboro, TX to the late George Henry Clint Dickey and Katie Lee (Murphy) Dickey. She married James R. Green on April 27, 1952, and they shared six children: Jimmy (Shirley) Green of Ararat, NC, Deborah (Chuck) Pittman of Morton, Larry (Kelly) Green of Washington, and Sandy (Tony) Hinson of Statesville, NC, all of whom survive; and Robert Green and Terry Green, both of whom preceded her in death.

Also surviving are 27 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, G.C. And Joe; one sister, Artie; and infant grandson, Mark.

Ruby loved to crochet and made afghans for all her family. Over the years, she worked various places as the family moved to serve various churches, ultimately retiring from Washington Christian Village. She could often be found working jigsaw puzzles, playing solitaire on her iPad, or reading the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books. She was a Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed Elvis' music. She especially loved walking her dogs while living at Leisure Acres. Vinny was her first and after he passed she got Mandy. She was seen daily walking them many times a day as long as she was able.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Jason Shults will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
