Obituary EAST PEORIAa"Roy J. Staehlin, 86, of East Peoria, died at 6:01 PM on Monday, December 1, 2008 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Born on January 3, 1922 in St. Louis, MO to Joseph and Molly Staehlin, he married Gladys B. Kolkhorst on July 9, 1949 in St. Louis. She preceded him in death on June 26, 2000 in Peoria, IL. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Diane Pugh of Portland, Oregon and Patricia Shoemaker of Germantown Hills, IL; 3 grandchildren, Andrew, Erica and Corey, and 2 great grandchildren, Charlie and Jason. Roy was preceded in death by 1 sister, Margaret. He was a Staff Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. Roy worked for the Chrysler Corporation as a District Representative in St. Louis and Peoria before his retirement in 1980. He also owned a Dodge dealership in Jefferson City, MO. Roy enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking, and stained glass. He also enjoyed playing dominos and cards at the East Peoria Senior Center. Visitation will be held from 4:30-6:30 PM on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria. Funeral services and burial will follow in St. Louis, MO.
