Obituary WASHINGTON--Roy Lee Brashers, 78, of Washington, died at 1:15 PM, on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Manor Care at Riverview in East Peoria with his family by his side. He was born on May 16, 1929 in Bolivar, Missouri to Robert and Orvilla Nottingham Brashers. He married Erma Jean Ragsdale on December 4, 1949 in Tunas, MO. She preceded him in death on June 10, 2006 in East Peoria. Surviving is 1 son Michael (Beth) Brashers, 1 daughter Debbie (Mike) Hargis and daughter-in-law Becky Brashers all of Washington IL; 7 grandchildren, Kim (Matt) Anderson, Steve (Amanda) Hargis, Brandon Hargis, Tammy (Mark) Stone, Heidi (Eric) LeCrone, Linda Brashers, and Justin Brashers, and 8 great-grandchildren. Roy is also survived by 1 sister, Marie Gregg of Ozark, MO and 2 brothers, Charles Brashers of Hanna City, IL and John (Emma) Brashers of Washington, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Jim Brashers, 1 brother, William, 2 infant brothers and 2 infant sisters. Roy was an Electrician for Caterpillar Tractor Co., where he worked for 35 years before his retirement in 1985. To both his family and friends, Roy was known as a "jack of all trades," always willing to lend a hand to others. His expertise in all mechanical and electrical maintenance was helpful to many. Even in his later years, he was working on equipment like wheel chairs at the nursing home. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, May 19 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor Steve Hardin will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Sunday, May 18 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
