Obituary Rowland R. "Poley" Hoffman, 98, of Morton, IL, passed away at 6:02 am Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at his home. Born on April 4, 1917 in Peoria, IL to William and Mary Ann Stevens Hoffman, he married Donna J. Flesner on January 11, 1963 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on October 20, 2015 in Peoria. Surviving are his daughter, Jerilyn J. Church and her husband Richard "Dick" W. Church of Glen Ellyn, IL; 3 grandchildren, Richard W. "Rick" Church II and wife Susan, Jeffery T. "JT" Church and wife Tiffany, and Catherine J. "CJ" Church; and seven great-grandchildren, Richard W. "Will" Church III, Annie, Allison, Charlie, Sawyer, Sullivan, and Crosby. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Erwin Hoffman and Howard C. Hoffman. Poley worked for Caterpillar Tractor Co., serving in many positions throughout his 45 year career. He retired as the corporate safety manager worldwide. He also was the past chairman of the Tazewell County Republican Central Committee. He was a member of the East Peoria Rotary Club, Creve Coeur Club of Peoria, and a Republican Precinct Committeeman for many years. He also was a member of the Caterpillar Diesel Basketball Team and Founder of the Dirksen 100 Club. A funeral service will be at 11:00 Am on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. Pastor John Hopwood will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church.
