Roselita M. "Rosie" Brown, 95, formerly of Washington, IL, died at 8:43 pm Sunday, August 29, 2021 at River Crossing of East Peoria. Born on December 24, 1925 in Houghton, IA to Fred and Veronica Menke Bentler, she married Richard E. "Brownie" Brown on May 6, 1947 in Houghton. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2002 in Metamora, IL. Surviving are 7 children: Larry (Joan) Brown of Gorham, IL, Peggy (Ken) Turnipseed of Kansas City, MO, Jane (Ron) Nieukirk of Washington, IL, Jerry (Cindy) Brown of Eddyville, IL, Mary Ann McCarthy of East Peoria, IL, Sue (Ron) Ortle of South Carolina, and JoAnn (Mike) Melton of St. Louis, MO, 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, 1 brother, Raymond (Marlene) Bentler of Salem, IA, and 1 sister, Eileen Hellman of Houghton, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents and 4 siblings. Rosie was the owner of J and R Children's Shop in Washington for many years and was a member of St. Patrick Church in Washington for over 50 years. Services will be private. Entombment will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
