Obituary

Roseann L. Howley, 83, of Washington, IL returned home to the loving rest of Jesus on February 14th, 2024.

On December 22nd, 1940 Roseann was born to Dorothy and John Lorentzen of Rock Island, IL.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jackie Lorentzen; husband, Sidney Howley; son, Ian Howley; and beloved uncle, Carol Lorentzen.

She is survived by her brother, Bill Lorentzen (Margaret) of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Chris Lewellen (Stuart); son, Michael Howley; and daughter-in-law, Beth Howley, all of Washington, IL. She was the proud grandmother of Megan (Evan) DeClercq, Miles Howley, Tess Howley and Grace Howley. She was also the great grandmother to Rowan DeClercq (age 3). She also leaves a multitude of beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Roseann spent a long and fruitful career at Illinois Central College where she worked in the Business and Information Systems Department as a secretary. In her retirement she returned to school and received her Massage Therapy certification. She also tutored at Harrison school in Peoria, IL and loved passing on her passion for education and learning to the young students she worked with.

In her spare time Roseann was an active member of the singing groups Side-by-Side and Second Act Chorus. She showed off her colorful side as a member of the Red Hat Society and was a fierce competitor in many card clubs. Roseann's house also always had a continual puzzle being worked on and if you stayed long, you'd be expected to find a few pieces in their home.

Roseann had an intense love of nature, ignited by time spent on her Grandparent's and Uncle's farms. She passed that love on to her children and grandchildren and gave generously to the Arbor Day Foundation, The Nature Conservancy and The National Audubon Society. For many years she served and worshiped at Washington Christian Church. Roseann enjoyed an array of artistic hobbies including painting, jewelry making, rock polishing, poetry writing and coloring.

Visitation will be held at Washington Christian Church, Saturday February 17th from 10 to 11AM followed by a Memorial Service at 11AM with a luncheon to follow.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
