Obituary WASHINGTON-Rosalie M. Russell, 87, of Washington, IL, died at 5:25 pm Monday, December 5, 2011 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Born on February 2, 1924 in Peoria to Alvin D. and Mabel Schaefer Murphy Sr., she married Everett W. Russell on February 14, 1947 at First Methodist Church in Peoria. He preceded her in death on December 25, 2010 in Washington. Also preceding her in death were her parents, her brother Alvin Murphy Jr. of Peoria, AZ, and her sister Violet Hinton of Phoenix, AZ. Surviving are 4 children, Tom (Nancy) Russell of Washington, Susan Russell (Robert Zerwekh) of Sycamore, IL, Joe (Cheryl) Russell of Washington and Peter (Julie) Russell of Peoria and 4 grandchildren, Jonathan (Alison) Russell, Nathan Russell, Emily Russell and Reed Russell. With helpful hands and a warm heart, Rosalie lovingly served her family, her church and her community. As a wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend, she was beloved and honored. Rosalie shared with all around her a love of family and Jesus Christ. She saw the world as her mission field and was known as a prayer warrior. Rosalie was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington for over 50 years where she also taught Sunday school. She was a scout leader for both Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts and was also a member of the United Methodist Women, the church choir and the education committee. Funeral services will be at 10 am Friday, December 9, 2011 at Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington. Pastor Tom Goodell will officiate. Visitation will be 4-7 pm Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the church. Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
