Obituary Washington- Robert "Bob" L. Thieme, 84, of Washington, died at 2:15am, Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at Snyder Village in Metamora. Robert was born October 15, 1929 in Washington to Albert and Anna Zimmerman Thieme. He married Alice Schmidt on December 26, 1954 in Washington. She preceded him in death on February 27, 1977. He later married Mary K. Bohne Roan on March 28, 1980 in Peoria; she survives. Also surviving are two sons, Robert (Valorie) Thieme of Milford, UT and Nairobi, Africa and John Thieme of Washington; two daughters, Becky (Jim ) Holmes of Washington and Theresa Thieme of Hampton, VA; seven step-children, Dennis (Lisa) Roan of Rockford, MS, Dave (Debbie) Roan, Kim (Steve) Chapman, Michael (Kathy) Roan, Kathy (Joe) Lee, all of Washington, Beth (Bobby) Boehme and LouAnn (Dave) Pavlik, both of Morton; two sisters, Viola Tracy of LaGrange, MO and Joanne Thieme Weinberg of Dillon, CO; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Alvin Thieme; one sister, Inez Haas; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Thieme; and a brother-in-law, Charles Tracy. Robert served in the United States Marine Corps. He began working for Operating Engineers #649 in 1967, retiring after 26 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #466 in Eureka, Navy Marine Club in Peoria Heights, Izaak Walton League of the Peoria Chapter, and AMVETS of Peoria. He attended St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Robert enjoyed spending his time farming, camping, and traveling. Funeral services for Robert will be held at 11:00am, Monday, December 30, 2013 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Father John Steffen will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00pm, on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton. Military rites will be rendered by both active duty military as well as Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. The family would like to extend their thanks to Robert's doctors and caregivers at Snyder Village, for their professional care and support they provided throughout his time there.
