Robert E. Smith Jr., 53, of Farmington, IL, passed away at 11:29am Sunday, August 7, 2022 at River Crossing of East Peoria.

He was born September 4, 1968 in Peoria, IL to Robert E. and Emma L. (Colvin) Smith.  They preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons, Dakota Robert (Kelsey) Smith of Bloomington, IL, and Zachary Montgomery Smith of Santa Cruz, CA; sister, Lena (Matthew) McClure of Washington, IL; nieces, Savannah (Brady) Andrews of East Peoria, IL, and Sierra McClure of Washington, IL; and great-niece, Ella Andrews of East Peoria, IL.

He loved spending the fourth of July at the lake lighting off fireworks with his family.  For Robert, the holidays were never complete without cocktail shrimp, family and endless jokes.  He was the most proud of his sons, and never missed a chance to cheer them on from the stands at their sporting events.

Cremation has been accorded.  A private family service will be held Friday evening.  A celebration of life will be hosted Sunday, Aug. 14 ^th from 4 to 6pm at Connect Center at 1750 Washington Road in Washington, IL 61571.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to TAPS no kill animal shelter in Pekin.
