Obituary Robert "Wayne" Smith, 77, of East Peoria, passed away at his home at 9 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2016. He was born April 13, 1939 in Kewanee, IL to Arthur F. and E. Catherine Lanpher Smith. He married Mary M. Halley on June 18, 1965 in Peoria, she survives. Also surviving are 3 children, Sheila (Martin) Field, Stacey Shaw, Franklin Smith; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 5 sisters and 4 brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings. Wayne worked for the I.B. E.W. Local 51 before retiring. He enjoyed and was active with Campers on a Mission. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Illinois CancerCare. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morton, 900 East Jefferson Street, Morton, IL 61550, where the family will receive friends on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. A Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25 at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton with Rev. Gary England officiating. Following the service at the cemetery all are invited to join the family back at the church at 12 Noon to share in food and fellowship and celebrate Wayne's life. Cremation rites have been accorded. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
