Robert L. Shelby, 80, of Dunlap, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022.
Bob was born September 29, 1941 in Peoria to the late Howard and Ida Shelby. In 1967, he married Barbara Oerther, whom he met while serving in the Army at Bamberg, Germany.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara; their children, Jeffery (Jill) Shelby of Dunedin, FL, Deborah (David) Mason of Morton, Michael (Rebecca) Shelby of Plymouth, MI, and Jason (Sarah) Shelby of East Peoria; and ten grandchildren.
Bob graduated from the University of Illinois in 1963 with his Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He began his career as an engineer with Caterpillar Tractor Company, worked with manufacturing in Building K in East Peoria, was Plant Manager in Pontiac, Illinois, and returned to Peoria as the Director of Manufacturing and New Technology. He had many and varied interests. Bob was a Christian and lived out his faith through his compassion and service to others.
A funeral service for Bob will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Peoria, where he was a member. Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm Monday, June 6, 2022 also at Redeemer Lutheran Church; additional visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be at Zion Evangelical United Methodist Church Cemetery in rural Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church Care Ministry, the American Heart Association, or a charity of the donor's choice.
