Obituary EAST PEORIA-Robert S. Petermann, Sr., 81, of Johnson City, TN, formerly of East Peoria passed away Wednesday March 27, 2013 at Lakebridge Health Center in Johnson City, TN. Robert was born in Eagle Pass, TX on Dec. 19, 1931 to Frank and Adela Martinez Petermann. Robert S Petermann, Sr. served in the US Navy from 1949-1953, during the Korean War. He married Nila M. Banner Feb. 19, 1955 and they had six children. Nila preceded him in death on March 3, 2013 in Johnson City, TN after just recently celebrating their 58th wedding anniversary. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a sister Gloria Hooker, two brother in laws Alberto Martinez Jr. and James Brown and a son in law Mark Sheets. Survivors include children, Sabrina Baumann (William), Toms River, NJ, Contessa Bowers, Fort Myers, FL, Robert Petermann Jr. (Camille), Springfield, IL, Durwin Petermann, Tacoma, WA, Valerie McClary (Joel), Morton, IL, and Gyneen Tangel (Neil), Telford, TN; fifteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; siblings Frank Petermann (Shirley) Colorado, Irene Petermann, TX, Dorothy Martinez, TX, and Elizabeth Brown, TX; as well as many nieces and nephews. Robert lived in East Peoria for over forty years with his wife Nila while raising their family. In 2011 Robert moved to Johnson City, TN with his wife Nila. Robert retired from American Pest Control after 22 years of dedicated service as an exterminator. Robert was a devoted husband and father who loved his family and worked hard all his life. He enjoyed reading, singing, dancing, and watching his Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church in East Peoria for over 40 years. He sang in the churches choir for years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. E. L. Grzybowski Council 7580. Robert was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters for over 50 years. Cremation has been accorded. There will be a Memorial Service at a later date. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
