Obituary
Robert "Bob" D. Morton, 80, of East Peoria, passed away at 6:12am, Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at UnityPoint Proctor in Peoria.
Bob was born March 6, 1935 in Camden, TN, to Robert Richard and Etta (Hedge) Morton. Bob was the youngest of seven children. He married Delores J. Nelan on October 25, 1977 at East Peoria United Methodist Church.
He was survived by his wife, Dee, daughters, Angie (Steve) Rynearson of Tremont, Illinois, Debbie (Brian) Schneider of Peoria, Illinois, Tammy Traywick of Decatur, Illinois, Terri (Todd) Rhoades of Morton, Illinois, Michael (Mary) Tapp of Bloomington, Illinois, his brother Ray of Bruceston, Tennessee and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Odie and sisters, Ruby, Mae and Linnie, and son Robert Steven Morton.
Bob attended Camden High school where he enjoyed playing on the high school football team. He loved sports of all kinds. Bob regularly participated in hunting and fishing activities with his family and friends. Most weekends, Bob could be found fishing from his boat or teeing off from Hole #1. He enjoyed being active.
For many years, Bob worked at Colonial Bakery. Upon the closing of the bakery, Bob decided to become self employed and started his own cleaning business. Bob's Floor Care was a family business for more than 30 years and it was during many overnight commercial contracts that the best memories were made with his children and grandchildren.
A graveside service for Bob will be held at 11:30am Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Rev. Ted A. Hartley will officiate. A small Celebration of Life will follow the services at the family home, which is often referred to as "The People's Palace". Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory, East Peoria, is serving the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
