Obituary
EAST PEORIA--Robert "Bob" Lowery, 86, of East Peoria, died at 6:17 AM, on Friday, February 22, 2008 at Manor Care at Riverview in East Peoria, IL.
He was born on December 25, 1921 in Tunnel Hill, Illinois to Ova and Mary Mahan Lowery. He married Ruth Lemasters on August 10, 1948 in Marion, Illinois; she survives.
Also surviving are 4 brothers, Joel (Arlene) Lowery of Galesburg, IL, Gene (Ann) Lowery of Oxford, NC, Jim (Shirley) Lowery of Lancaster, PA, and Ova (Carol) Lowery, Jr. of Mesa, AZ; and 1 sister, Ruth Harper of Tunnel Hill, IL. He was known as "Uncle Bobbie" to his many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles and Bill, and 1 sister, Ann Farquar.
Bob was a US Army veteran, serving in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska during World War II.
Bob worked for Caterpillar, starting in the Machine Shop in building HH, and retired from Planning in Mossville after 32 years of service.
After retiring, Bob and Ruth traveled across North America, accomplishing their goal of visiting every province in Canada and every state in the Continental United States, making memories. He also enjoyed making jewelry and repairing antique clocks.
He attended Northside Church of the Nazarene in Peoria, where a funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, February 26. Rev. Sylvanus Carter will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, February 25 at Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria. Additional visitation will be held one half-hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria, IL.
Memorials may be made to the Northside Church of the Nazarene.
