Obituary WASHINGTONa"Robert T. "Bob" Liter, 85, of Washington, died at 2:43 PM on Monday, November 10, 2008 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Born on September 21, 1923 in Hartley, IA to Charles and Hazel Marie Taylor Liter, he married Lillian Hyde on March 4, 1950 in Des Moines, IA. She preceded him in death on September 11, 2008 in Washington. Surviving are 2 daughters, Martie (Jerry) Ogborn of Mackinaw and Jeannie (Chuck) Joplin of Mapleton; 2 sons, Jeff (Jackie) Liter of Eden Prairie, MN and Ron (Linda) Liter of Maple Grove, MN; 2 sisters, June Vandermeulen of Urbandale, IA and JoAnn (Bob) Stevens of Scottsdale, AZ; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bob was a US Navy veteran, and was honorably discharged after 2 tours of duty in World War II and the Korean War. He was a graduate of Drake University, earning his degree in Journalism. Bob worked as the Copyright Editor for the Peoria Journal Star until his retirement. He was also a writer, and had several works published on the internet. Bob loved to bowl, golf and garden, and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. A funeral service will be held at 5 PM on Friday, November 14, 2008 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor John Rothfusz will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Friday. Cremation rites will be accorded following services.
