Robert "Bob" J. Kurtz, 70, of Morton, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Monday, January 12, 2026. He was born on October 23, 1955, to Keith and Sondra (Weber) Kurtz. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Dolores Otten. He married Diane Otten in Peoria on December 2, 1978. Diane, his wonderful wife of 47 years, survives.

Bob was a loving, compassionate man who never turned away anyone in need of help, regardless of the circumstances of the situation.
Bob was proud to be a member of IUEC Local 55 working for Montgomery and KONE Elevator. After working for over 40 years, he was able to retire early and enjoy 12 winters in Florida with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening, fishing at his cousin's swamp, woodworking with his grandchildren, and vacationing in Cocoa Beach, Florida. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14th, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Bob was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, where his Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 15th, at 10:00 a.m. Private graveside will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
While battling Parkinson's, Bob participated in a workout group called Rock Steady Boxing, where he found great comfort and camaraderie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rock Steady Boxing in Peoria.
