Robert Lee Knapp, 91, of Washington, passed away at 2:34am Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.
He was born September 30, 1930, in Peoria, IL to the late Frederick and Marguerite Heinz Knapp. He married J. Bernice McIntyre on April 23, 1960, in Peoria, IL at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Bernice preceded him in death on February 6, 2013.
Surviving are children, Mark (Lorrie) Knapp and their children, Jesse Scott and Abigail (Dalton) Simpson, Joe (Heather) Knapp and their child, Jaden Wadas, Robert (Kirsten) Knapp and their children, Caleb and Lindsey, Randy (Terri) Knapp and their children, Dallas and Dalton, Susan Knapp and her children, Carolynn and Elizabeth Day, Eric (Molly) Knapp and their children, Jacob (Jenna) and Meghan; four great-grandchildren, Truitt, Audrey, Wyatt and Clara; and two sisters, Judy Myers and Linda McCoy. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Fred.
Bob was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a corporal from the United States Army. Bob worked hard his entire life. He was a private contractor/distributor for Prairie Farms Dairy for over 40 years.
He looked forward to getting to know his customers and often went above and beyond expectations. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington, IL a charter member of the Menco Council 6707 and active member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Bob was a car enthusiast, enjoyed car races and ice cream. He was proud to say that the greatest riches he and Bernice had were being blessed with their six children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4pm Sunday, October 10th at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington with recitation of the Rosary at 4pm. Funeral Mass will be at 10am Monday, October 11th at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington with Father John Steffen officiating with further visitation 30 minutes prior to Mass from 9:30 to 10am Monday. Burial with military honors will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton.
Memorial contributions may be made to student scholarships at St. Patrick School.
