Obituary Robert L. Frye, Sr., 84, of Washington, died at 7:10 PM on Friday, August 22, 2008 at his residence. Born on March 26, 1924 in East Peoria to Harry I. and Ruth E. Strickland Frye, he married Esther Ilene Blake on April 29, 1949 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on March 4, 2003. Surviving are 2 sons, Robert L. (Vera) Frye, Jr. of Washington, and Terry Lee (Gaylean) Frye of Burnt Prairie, IL; 1 brother, James (Barb) Frye of Groveland; 2 sisters, Edna Weber of East Peoria and Arlene Purtle of Flannigan, IL; 4 grandchildren, Erik (Donna) Frye of Washington, Scott Frye of Washington, Shane Frye of Tulsa, OK, and Esther Walfelter of Burnt Prairie, IL; and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Charles, Clifford and Harold Frye. Robert was a US Army veteran, serving during World War II. He had been a house mover and a laborer with the Local #165 for over 60 years. Robert was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Peoria. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 25 at Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria. The Rev. Terry Rowell will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Monday from 10-11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
