Obituary
WASHINGTON-Robert E. "Bob" Franks, 87, of Washington, IL died at 5:10 AM Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Manor Care at Riverview in East Peoria, IL.
He was born on September 5, 1925 in Benton County, TN to Earl A. and Gertrude Gossett Franks. Robert married Wilma Mae Marshall on July 18, 1952 in Corinth, MS. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters; Cindy (Jerry) Harris and Sheila Genovese, both of Washington; four grandchildren, Robert (Stephanie) Harris, Brandy (Will) Meyers, Justin Franks, and Jakob Genovese; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth Franks of Redington Beach FL, Jack (Barbara) Franks of Brandon, FL, and Charles Franks of Nashville, TN; and four sisters, Juanice Souza of Mission Viejo, California, Mary Lou (Vernon) Malin of Sun City Center, FL, Anita (Shorty) Wright of Camden TN, and Sally Sykes of South Haven, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents
Robert was a Born Again Christian, an ordained deacon, and a member of First Baptist Church in Washington. He was a US Navy veteran, serving during World War II. Robert worked as a machinist at Caterpillar Inc. for 35 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local #974. Robert was a volunteer at Proctor Hospital for 8 years. He enjoyed gardening, bicycling, and cheering for the Chicago Cubs. He loved the Lord, his family, his yearly vacation with his brothers and sisters, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be at 11 AM Monday, May 13, 2013 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Pastor Rodney Groff will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in rural Morton.
