Bob was born September 27, 1969 in Springfield to Mary Helen (Oder) and Robert L. Burns, Jr. In January 1993, he married Anya Eblen in Washington.
He is survived by his wife, Anya; their children, Ryan, Brennan, Natalie, and Collin; his parents, Bob and Mary Helen Burns of Morton; sisters, Renee Horaney of Morton and Julie (Mike) Simon of Oak Hill, VA; parents-in-law, David (Karin) Eblen of Washington; sister-in-law, Jennifer (Mark) Johnson of Cary; brother-in-law, Alexander (Erin) Eblen of Oak Park, and his nieces and nephews.
Bob spent his career as a pharmaceutical rep for various companies, most recently Sanofi, and including Merck and Allergan. He was proud of his career choice and excelled at it, making many wonderful relationships with colleagues and physicians. Bob was a loving, hands-on dad, and was proud to raise them in his hometown of Morton. He enjoyed coaching his kids in their sports and spending as much time with them as he could. He was a great sports fan, and especially loved his St. Louis Cardinals. One of Bob's greatest legacies was the smile he always had on his face and the quip he had for any situation.
Words cannot express how thankful Bob's family is to his colleagues, their community, and the staff of Illinois CancerCare, Mayo Clinic, and Transitions Hospice for all of their immeasurable love and support.
Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Bob's life from 5-8:00pm Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Morton Knights of Columbus Hall, and are encouraged to wear their favorite sports apparel. Inurnment will be a Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Father Kyle Lucas and Msgr. Gerald Ward will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages that memorials may be made to them for the benefit of the Burns family college fund.
