Obituary
MORTON--Robert "Bob" Gordon, 83, of Morton, died at 6:41 PM, on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at his residence.
He was born on September 18, 1922 in Bloomington, Illinois to Homer and Ethel Bennett Gordon. He married Margaret Sierra on July 3, 1957 in Jackson Hole, WY; she survives.
Also surviving are 2 sons, Richard A. (Kimberly A.) Gordon of Washington, IL, and David Gordon of Bartonville, IL; 2 daughters, Georgeanna 'Na' Gordon of Peoria, IL, and Margaret Rose Gordon of Peoria, IL; 2 grandsons, Jason Robert Gordon of Peoria, IL and Stevi Sierra of Peoria, IL; 2 brothers, Harold Gordon of Morton, and Eddie Gordon of Bloomington; 2 granddaughters, Nikki Gordon of Morton, IL, Erica Gordon of Peoria, IL, and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, 1 brother and his parents.
He proudly served in the Army during World War II in the Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, Central Europe and African Theaters. He was honorably discharged, receiving 4 Bronze Battle Stars, a Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Metal, a Service Stripe, and 5 Overseas Service Bars.
He was a laborer for Caterpillar, Inc. where he worked for 35 years before retiring in 1978.
He was a proud member of the UAW Local 974 in East Peoria.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM, one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton, IL.
