Rick Ragan, 48, of Washington, passed away at 3:10pm Thursday, November 4, 2021 at UnityPoint Health- Methodist in Peoria. He was born August 19, 1973 in Peoria to Neal, Jr. and Donna Robertson Ragan. Surviving are his parents; siblings, Deb (Rob) Catton and Mike (Lisa) Ragan, all of Washington; his nephews, Kory, Kody, and Kacy Catton; his grandmother, Dorothy Ragan; his companion, Angela Beutel; and a host of friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Neal Ragan, Sr., Betty Baken, and Bobbie Robertson. Rick worked in and around the family business, Ragan Communications, for his entire life. From riding in customers' fire trucks as a boy to serving clients far and wide, he loved his work and those he got to know through it. Though he loved working with his many first responder clients, his heart was with the fire department. His last call with Northern Tazewell Fire Department was in 2017, retiring after over 20 years of service including several as Chief. When he wasn't dedicating his time to the service of others, he could be found at a Florida beach, four-wheeling, or at Cardinals game. Everything Rick did was with his whole heart and his presence will be missed by many. A funeral service with firefighter honors will be held at 11:00am Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, and will be livestreamed. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be from 4-7:00pm Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. A walk through open to all First Responders will be at 7:00pm; please arrive by 6:30pm to line up if you wish to participate. Rick's family respectfully requests that masks be worn during these tributes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northern Tazewell Fire Protection District.
