Richard Eugene Willis, 67, of Peoria Heights, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025 at his home. He bravely fought against prostate cancer for the past five years.

He was born April 13, 1958 to the late Lawrence Eugene and Beatrice (Venancio) Willis in Peoria, IL. He married Vicki Klockenga on July 7, 1987 in Peoria, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Rick Crum, Marie Arrowood, Dustin Willis, and Timothy Willis; his grandson, Eliah Willis; his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Crum; his brother, Steve (Julie) Willis; and his cat, Pete.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Venancio, and David Willis.

As a small engine mechanic, Rick spent the last 20 years of his career with the Peoria Park District, retiring in 2020. He made many lasting friendships and always looked forward to his Friday lunches with the crew.

Rick enjoyed watching/attending NHRA drag racing when he could. He treasured the time he spent ice fishing with his 'Pops', Richard Klockenga, and brother-in-law, Tony Klockenga and fishing on the Illinois River with his brother Steve. In the springtime, he could be found hunting morel mushrooms. He was a frequent camper and enjoyed being outdoors. He was also the founder of Friday night hang outs at Rick's Place. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to an animal shelter of the donor's choice.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at the Meadow Valley Center at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington from 4pm-7pm.
