Obituary Richard "Dick" Sears, 78, of Peoria, passed away at 12:25pm, Monday, June 9, 2014 at Washington Christian Village. Dick was born January 31, 1936 in Keokuk, IA, to Richard O. and Dorothy M. Mitchell Sears; they precede him in death. He married Jacqueline R. Hand on January 28, 1956 in Keokuk; she survives. Also surviving are three children, Keith William Sears, Karen Lee Sears, and Gail Diane Humiston; six grandchildren, Melissa S. Sauder, Brittany R. Stage, Thomas E.M. Sauder, Jessica L. Franklin, Kenneth P. Harris, and Tina L. Harris; six great-grandchildren, Lydia C. Franklin, Carter J. Franklin, Alaina K. Franklin, Layla J. Sauder Blair, Haylee R. Stage, and Lucas R. Harris. Dick graduated from Bradley University and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He worked as an engineer at Caterpillar Tractor Co., retiring in 2000. A car enthusiast, Dick's pride and joy was the 1978 El Camino that he converted to be a flex fuel vehicle. A private family celebration of Dick's life will be held.
