Obituary Washington- Richard C. "Dick" Nedland, 80, of Washington died at 12:20 PM on December 31, 2009 at his home. He was born on June 14, 1929 in Canwood, Saskatchewan, Canada to George and Agnes Schean Nedland. He married M. Jean Olson on October 1, 1955 in Pawnee, IL. She survives. Dick is also survived by son Russell S. Nedland of Washington; daughter Marcia (Doug) Nedland Dylla of Ithaca, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, his parents, and a son Richard Nedland II. Dick worked for General Telephone and Verizon for 34 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Washington VFW Post 9016, the Masonic Lodge, the Isaac Walton Club and he loved fishing, camping, and wintering in Texas. A celebration of Dick's life will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the VFW Post 9016 in Washington. Cremation rites have been accorded. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington are in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
