Obituary Richard "Dick" F. Heihs, 81, of Marquette Heights passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 9:35PM at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Dick was born on February 2, 1933 to Fred and Cary Rutledge Heihs in Pekin. He married Sherry Flick on February 14, 1959 in Pekin. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Shelly (Randy) McDuff of Pekin and Scott (Bridget) Heihs of Port Charlotte, FL; three grandchildren, Chelsea Hornecker, Logan Hornecker and Sydney Heihs; siblings, Dan (Carolyn) Pfanz of Manito, Ramona (Ray) Righi of Pekin and Barb (Jack) Buchanan of Pekin; sister-in-law, Linda Pfanz of Morton; and several nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ron Pfanz and Don Heihs. He was a 1951 graduate of Pekin Community High School. After high school, Dick played for the Chicago White Sox. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army. Dick worked several years for Commonwealth-Edison, retiring in 1992. Dick was a gifted athlete in his younger years and his love for sports never faded. He was an avid golfer. He cherished his time with his family, especially his three grandchildren. There will be no services. Cremation rites have been accorded. Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
