Obituary Richard L. Hammer, 76, of Washington, passed away at 6:20pm, Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Washington Christian Village in Washington. He was born June 28, 1937 in Peoria to Orville E. and Evelyn M. Jolly Hammer. He married Sandra L. Hasler April 23, 1979 in Las Vegas; she survives. Also surviving are two children, Richard L. (Geri) Hammer II of Germantown Hills, and Debora K. Hammer of Peoria; and grandchildren, Robyn L. Hammer, of Spring Bay and Grant M. Hammer, of Germantown Hills. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Kenneth Hammer and Edgar Hammer. Richard retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. after 30 years. He later worked part-time at Illinois Central College in Security. Richard was a member at First Baptist Church in Washington, and a Mason for many years. Funeral services will be at 2:30pm, Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Washington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Pastor Joshua Monda will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
