Obituary Richard J. Dorbeck Jr., 59, of Washington, IL, died at 9:10 am Saturday, October 13, 2012 at his residence. Born on July 10, 1953 in Moline, IL to Richard and Emma Jean Livengood Dorbeck, Sr., he married Dawn M. Anderson on August 4, 1973 in Rock Island, IL. She survives. Also surviving are his parents, Richard and Emma Dorbeck Sr. of Rock Island, IL, 1 son, Richard W. Dorbeck of Washington, IL, and 1 daughter, Shannon M. (Michael) Wood of Morton, IL, and was affectionately known as PaPa to his 7 grandchildren: Austin, Christopher, Ryan, Bridget, Carter, Colden, and Cameron. Richard served in the United States Army and the Army National Guard for a combined service of 34 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant and also the Shop Chief at the Bloomington Armory. He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Washington and the American Legion. Richard greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandchildren. A funeral mass will be at 10 am Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at St. Patrick Church in Washington. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, where a prayer service will be held at 6:45 pm. Additional visitation will also be from 9:30-10 am Wednesday at the church. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery in Rock Island, where full military honors will be rendered.
