Richard I. Coyle, 90, of East Peoria, passed away at 9:15am Tuesday, January 18, 2021 at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria.

He was born February 21, 1931 in Moline to John T. and Gladys Irwin Coyle.  He married Elaine Babineau in Phoenix, AZ on November 26, 1955.  She preceded him in death on March 7, 2009.  He was also preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Caroline (Don) Colbert.

Surviving is four children, Mike (Cindy) Coyle, Steve (Jean) Coyle, Richard (Colleen) Coyle, Colleen (Paul) Herzog; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Richard was a Korean War Army Veteran.  He worked at Pabst Brewery for 20 years until its closing, later working as a security guard at OSF St. Francis Hospital before retiring.

He was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church in East Peoria and was also in the Knights of Columbus Monsignor Grzybowski Council.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11am Monday, January 24, 2022 at St. Monica's Catholic Church in East Peoria.  Visitation will be held one hour before mass from 10 to 11am Monday at the church.  Private burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Kickapoo.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or to St. Monica's Catholic Church.
