Obituary

Obituary Richard D. Blaine Sr., 80, passed away and went home to be with the Lord at 1:30 pm Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. He was born Sept. 8, 1937 in Peoria, IL to Lee Roy and Virginia May (Culler) Blaine. He married Lori L. Stange on Jan. 16, 1988 in Sarasota, FL. She survives. Also surviving are 5 children, Richard D. (Terri) Blaine of Odon, IN, Debbie (Jimmy) Gillinger, Robert L. Blaine, Michael B. Blaine and Patrick A. Blaine all of Washington; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and brother, Martin (Karen) Blaine of Mountain Home, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 daughters, Carla Kay Blaine in March of 2007, Brenda Lee Blaine in Jan. of 2015; 3 sisters, Betty Wade, Sylvia Rivas, Myrtle Blaine; infant brother, Francis Blaine; and 2 grandchildren, Daniel Reatherford and Brandon A. Reatherford. Richard was a US Army Veteran and of the Christian faith. He worked as an Autobody repairman for several shops in the Peoria area and eventually opened Blaine's Autobody in Bartonville, IL which he owned and operated with his eldest son Ricky. Richard was a truck driver in Illinois and Florida for 35 years. He worked for the Sarasota County School Board in Sarasota, FL for 20 years as a Facility Maintenance worker where he earned many awards and commendations. Richard retired on Sep. 28th, 2001. His hobbies and favorite activities included building model cars, collecting die-cast cars and trucks and watching Professional Wrestling and spending time with family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the OSF Children's Hospital of Illinois, or Peoria Honor Flight. A funeral service for Richard with Military Honors will be held at 11 am Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, with Pastor Stephen Thompson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Friday at the funeral home with further visitation one hour before services on Saturday from 10 to 11 am. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.
