Richard E. "Archie"
Archdale
Jan 17, 1969 — Jan 5, 2023
Richard E. "Archie" Archdale, 53, of Washington, passed away at 5:01pm Thursday, January 5, 2023 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born January 17, 1969 in Peoria to Virginia Pickel. He married Christy Shipley on January 8, 2005. She survives.
Also surviving are seven daughters, Erren Pierson of Carbondale, Courtney (Amanda) Davis of West Virginia, Kayla (Derek) Nafziger of Tremont, Brittany (Keny) Patterson of Washington, Brandi (Chase) Patterson of Peoria, Andrea Archdale of East Peoria, Alivia Archdale of Washington; fifteen grandchildren, Madison, Grayson, Rylee, Kenzie, Brinley, Karson, Kolton, Annabeth, Asante, Abby, Ariel, Arius, Steeler, Charlee and Elliott; and three siblings, David Anderson of East Peoria, Kelly (Mike) Houston of East Peoria, and Brenda (late husband, Steven) Reneau of Canton. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Gilmore; father figure and mentor, Jim Hardwick; and daughter, Devyn Davis.
He was a man of many trades. He spent millions of miles behind the wheel of a truck. He devoted many passionate years of his life to the Washington Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but the thing that brought him the most joy was spending as much time with his grandkids as possible. You could find him every morning at the "Regulars" table at the Filling Station in Sunnyland. He loved spending all his time with his family and friends and no one he met was a stranger. He was the person everyone called when they needed help with a project, big or small. He will be remembered by many for years to come for his sense of humor and humbling personality.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6pm Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. His funeral service is at 10am Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Northern Tazewell Rescue Squad.
