Raymond D Purdue, 92, formerly of East Peoria, Illinois passed away on February 12, 2026.

Ray was born March 21, 1933 in Kell, Illinois to the late Charles and Ruby Purdue. He married Connie Stewart on October 16, 1954. She preceded him in death on November 27, 2023.

Surviving are his children: David (Faith) Purdue of Crawfordville, Florida, Jerry (Dawn) Purdue of Metamora, Illinois and Patti (Gary) Zellner of Crawfordville, Florida. His grandchildren are Amy Purdue of Tallahassee, Florida, Nick (Anna) Purdue of Bloomington, Illinois and Sarah (Brandon) Schatsiek of Broomfield, Colorado. Surviving are 2 brothers, Larry and Melvin and 1 sister, Betty Hooten.

He was preceded in death by his brother Paul and sister Pauline.

Ray served in the United States Army from 1952-1954. He worked for Caterpillar for 40 years prior to his retirement. Ray and Connie formerly attended Highview Church of God in Washington, Illinois where they made many good friends.

A memorial and military service will be held at 11:00 am on March 7, 2026, with visitation one hour prior at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Rev. Megan Alamo will preside. Graveside service will follow at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greater Peoria Honor Flight or the Alzheimer's Association.
