Rachel Bloch, 46, of Washington, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 15, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 18, 1978 to John and Marilyn (Murphy) Emmons III.  She married Karl Bloch in Spencer, Indiana on June 8, 2002.  He survives.

Also surviving are her mother, Marilyn Emmons; four children, Scott, Reed, Caroline, and Eric Bloch; one brother, John (Jill) Emmons; and one sister, Rebecca (Lee) Stewart.  She was preceded in death by her father, John III.

She graduated in 1997 from Owen Valley High School. Rachel received her Master's Degree in education from St. Xavier University and her Bachelor's from Indiana State University. She taught Special Education at Georgetowne Middle School.  Additionally, she worked at Sylvan Learning Center.  Previously she had taught kindergarten at schools in Peoria and Florida.  She had taken further graduate coursework at Northern Illinois University and planned to become a Director of Special Education.

Rachel was a loving mother who never wanted to miss a soccer game, choir concert, or band concert. It didn't matter what it was, she always wanted to be there to support those she loved.

Rachel volunteered with the Washington Community High School Band Boosters, especially helping with the Marching Panther invitational.

Rachel was an avid reader and loved dogs.

Visitation will be on Sunday, February 23rd from 12pm to 2pm at Countryside Banquet Facility in Washington, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2pm.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
