Obituary

Peter "Pete" T. Logan, 73, of Eureka, formerly of Hampshire, IL and Washington, D.C., passed away at 8:35 am Sunday, August 8, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born February 1, 1948 in Washington, D.C. to the late Theodore and Cristina Callas Logan. He married Linda Roush in Hampshire, IL on July 25, 1970. She survives. Also surviving is his daughter, Stephanie (Tony) Morstatter; son, Pete (Molly) Logan; four grandchildren, Logan and Cole Morstatter, Shelby and Emma Logan; three brothers, Jim Logan, Fred (Penny) Logan, Stacy (Ginger) Logan; and several nieces and nephews. Pete worked as a deputy sheriff for Kane County and was Chief of Police for the City of Hampshire. He worked for Internal Security for the State of Illinois before retiring. He took great pride in serving and protecting his community. He was involved in many professional organizations: Fraternal Order of Police, Illinois Police Association, Kane County Chief of Police Association, National Crime Prevention Police Officers Association, Kane County Juvenile Police Officers Association, Illinois High School Coaches Association, National High School Coaches Association, Board Member of the Selective Service, Eureka City Alderman, and American Legion. He had a passion for teaching, coaching, and mentoring youth. He was instrumental in starting the soccer and basketball leagues in Burlington, IL and coached his children in various sports. Pete was a sports enthusiast and loved watching his children and grandchildren play. He took extreme pride in his 4 grandchildren and called them every week to see how they were doing. He called this "harassment Wednesday." The grandchildren will miss those Wednesday calls. Pete was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed. Pete would not want us to mourn his death. Instead, he would want us to celebrate all the memories that were made and ask us to have a shot and beer to celebrate his life. Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
