Obituary WASHINGTON- Peggy Jo Simmons, 68, of Washington died at 2:40 AM on Friday June 12, 2009 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Born on May 12, 1941 in Williamsfield, IL to Lowell and Theda Spencer Doubet, she married Gerald Simmons on October 25, 1959 in Galesburg, IL. Surviving are her daughter, Theresa Simmons of Carson City, NV; 3 sons, Christopher (Terry) Simmons of Richmond, VA, Patrick Simmons of Washington IL, and Andrew (Lori) Simmons of Princeville, IL; and her brother, John (Joanne) Doubet of Bradenton, FL, 6 grandchildren, and her best friend, Sherry Woodward of Pekin, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents. Peggy worked in graphic design for Caterpillar Inc. for 10 years. She was involved in girl scouts, bowling, and women's softball leagues. She also enjoyed writing. A memorial service celebrating Peggy's life will be held at 10 AM on Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Beverly Manor Baptist Church in Washington. The Rev. Lee Taylor will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday June 18 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment of cremated remains will be held at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton at a later date.
