Peggy Marrs, 74, of Pekin, formerly of Peoria, passed away at 4:53pm Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at her home.

She was born December 15, 1947 in Peoria to the late Delmer and Marjorie Bremer Gebhardt. On January 18, 1981, she married James W. Marrs; he preceded her in death in 2019.

Surviving are her beloved children and step-children, James Marrs, Jr., John (Marie) Marrs, Nancy Shelby, Ken Shropshire, Theresa French, April Moore, Marjorie (Brock) Alexander, and Jerry Marrs; 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Judi (Lindell) Albright and Suzanne Hicks.

She was also preceded in death by her son, David Shropshire; and a brother Del Gebhardt.

Peggy's first and best vocation in life was being a mother. She was the ultimate mom; loving, disciplining, and caring for her kids. She was, and will always be, her family's moral compass and guiding light. Peggy instilled many values in her family and modeled what unconditional love meant to them. Her sweet spirit will be missed by all who loved her.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm Friday, April 8, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
