Pearline K.
Streitmatter
Jul 3, 1930 — Jul 11, 2026
Pearline K. Streitmatter, 96, of Washington, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 11, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka. Pearline was born on July 3, 1930, in Lester, IA; the daughter of the late Fred and Caroline (Knobloch) Metzger. She married Vernon Streitmatter on November 17, 1957 and they spent 28 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death on December 16, 1985.
Pearline was a devoted follower of Christ and founding member of the Washington Apostolic Christian Church. She was a talented cook who loved sharing her gift with family and friends, especially her homemade sweet breads. She loved tending her flowers and participating in garden club and Home Extension. Most of all, Pearline loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her smile and sense of humor brought joy to everyone around her. Pearline also worked as a nanny for the Mirza family in Peoria for 12 years, forming close bonds with their family.
Pearline is survived by her children Paul (Jean) Streitmatter of Washington, Kary (Ron) Wiegand of Eureka; her grandchildren Kirk (Lexi) Streitmatter, Kayla (fiancé Wade Luginbuhl) Streitmatter, Kyle Streitmatter, Julie (Brandon) DesCarpentrie, Erik (Carrie) Wiegand, Jeff (Janel) Wiegand, Craig (Marla) Wiegand, and Christy Wiegand; 26 great-grandchildren, her sister Lydiann Wyss of Washington, her sister-in-law Ruth Streitmatter of Fort Scott, KS, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Pearline was preceded in death by nine brothers and 3 sisters.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the wonderful caregivers who cared for Pearline in her home over the last several years, as well as the staff of the Eureka AC Home who served Pearline during her brief stay.
A visitation will be held at the Morton Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall on Monday, July 13, from 4-7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 14, at 10am at the Washington Apostolic Christian Church, preceded by a visitation from 9-9:45am. Internment will be at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery in Washington.
